SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lela Imogene "Jean" Carter, formerly of
4Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on June 20, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Carter was born in Capps, Arkansas on July
624, 1928 to Clive and Erbie Robinson Wilson; she graduated from
7Parthenon High School in Parthenon, Arkansas in 1944, where she
8played basketball; that same year she won the Newton County
9Fair Beauty Contest in Newton County, Arkansas; she married
10Bill Carter shortly thereafter and they settled in Des Moines,
11Iowa; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jean Carter attended the Americana Academy of
13Beauty in Des Moines; in 2012, she moved to Oak Park to be
14closer to her family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jean Carter enjoyed art, nature, hunting, and
16sports; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jean Carter was preceded in death by her parents;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jean Carter was the loving mother of Rick Carter;
20the cherished grandmother of Brooke Carter; she was the dear

1sister of Cleo (Gleema) Wilson, Zella (the late James) Hudson,
2and Anna Mae (the late Thomas) Reynolds; she also leaves behind
3many caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as
4several "adopted children" from her long and happy career in
5child care; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Lela Imogene "Jean" Carter, and extend our sincere condolences
9to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jean Carter as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
