SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen Louise Crew of Chillicothe, who
4passed away on September 23, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Crew was born on August 31, 1917 in Medina
6Township near Chillicothe; her parents were John Adam and Mina
7Madeline (nee Preston) Bauer; she married Norman D. Crew on
8December 24, 1940 at the First Presbyterian Church in Peoria;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Helen Crew was employed at Caterpillar Inc. during
11World War II; she later worked at Geiger Hardware and Carlisle
12Drug Store in Chillicothe; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Helen Crew was a member of First United Methodist
14Church for over 50 years and a member of the Mary Anna Circle;
15she also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
16Auxiliary; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Helen Crew enjoyed music and sang with the Belles
18of Harmony; she also loved being outdoors and lived most of her
19life in the country near Chillicothe; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Helen Crew was preceded in death by her parents;

1her husband, Norman; 3 brothers, Francis "Pete", Augustus
2"Chug", and Harold "Hob"; and 7 sisters, Agnes Hollandsworth,
3Lena Schroeder, Blanche Shrader, Minnie Douglas, Mary Ratliff,
4Lois Pease, and Gladys Hawksworth; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Crew is survived by a daughter, Patricia
6(Donald) Taylor; 2 sons, Douglas (Nancy) Crew and David
7(Debbie) Crew; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several
8nieces and nephews; a sister, Fern Appel; and a brother,
9Richard (Bud) Bauer; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Helen Louise Crew; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Helen Crew as an expression of our
16sympathy.
