SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Troy Randall Ward of Glen Carbon, who
4passed away on June 3, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Troy Ward was born on September 21, 1947 in
6Hendersonville, North Carolina; his parents were Juthron and
7Ginny (nee Campbell) Ward; he married Cathy Wayant on June 10,
81972 in Greensboro, North Carolina; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Troy Ward was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served
10his country as a member of the United States Army; he was the
11recipient of 2 Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service
12Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam
13Campaign Medal, and the Army Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge
14with M-14 Qualification Attachment Bar for his meritorious
15service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Troy Ward was employed as the plant manager of
17A.O. Smith in Granite City for many years; he also retired from
18the quality control department of the Nike Corporation in St.
19Louis, Missouri; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Troy Ward was a dedicated member of the Glen
21Carbon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2222; and

1    WHEREAS, Troy Ward enjoyed golfing, cooking, and spending
2time with his family, especially his 8 grandchildren; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Troy Ward is survived by his loving wife of 42
4years, Cathy Ward; 4 children, Mary (Vince) Hughes, Kelly
5Wesley, Brandon Ward, and Jon Ward; 8 grandchildren, Courtney
6Lybarger, Taylor Lybarger, Brooke Wesley, Alison Wesley, Ellie
7Hughes, Grace Hughes, Jackson Ward, and Lena Ward; a sister,
8Karen Barker; 2 brothers, David Ward and Kevin (Daryl) Ward;
9and many extended family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Troy Randall Ward; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Troy Ward as an expression of our
16sympathy.
