SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald A. "Jerry" Soberg of Harvard, who
4passed away on August 9, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg was born in Woodstock on April 30,
61946 to Oscar and Clara (nee Rishof) Soberg; he married Kathy
7E. Morgan on June 7, 1969 in Crystal Lake; he served in the
8United States' Army from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in
9Germany; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg was a heavy equipment operator for
11Gluth Brothers Construction in Woodstock; he loved building and
12remodeling homes, including his own; for over 25 years he was a
13member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Papa", Jerry Soberg was
16an avid flyer and builder of RC Planes and was involved with
17the Big Foot RC Flyers club; he enjoyed spending summers at
18Green Lake, Wisconsin, either tubing, boating, skiing, or
19riding on the golf cart with his grandchildren; he also enjoyed
20teaching all of his grandkids how to operate his skid loader;

1    WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg was preceded in death by his parents;
2brothers, Marvin, Orville, Donald, Raymond, and Robert;
3sisters, Eleanor Krich and Charlotte Olsson; and father and
4mother-in-law, Franklin and Esther Morgan; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg is survived by his wife of 45 years,
6Kathy; his son, Troy (Jessica) Soberg; his daughter, Sandi
7(Brad) Bronson-Kodl; his grandchildren, Preston, Parker,
8Delaney Bronson, Joe Soberg, and Dougie Miller; a brother,
9Dewayne (Mary) Soberg; a sister Margaret Embry;
10sisters-in-law, Loretta, Vickie, and Pat Soberg; and many
11nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and dear
12friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Gerald A. "Jerry" Soberg, and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jerry Soberg as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
