HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA teaches internal arts of health in 28 states and 25 countries, including Illinois, where it is taught in St. Charles, Elgin, Bartlett, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, Oakbrook Terrace, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Glenview, Rolling Meadows, Chicago, and Peoria; a new center will be opened in St. Charles on February 23, 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA is a non-profit, charitable organization operated almost completely by volunteers and having over 4,500 members, and is part of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society which has more than 500 branches in 25 countries throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA was founded by Master Moy Lin Shin, who came from Hong Kong in 1970 and devoted his life to bringing the healing benefits of Taoist Tai Chi internal arts of health to others; and

WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA has a special outreach to seniors, those with disabilities, and others who struggle with injury or illness; and

WHEREAS, The Society's Tai Chi incorporates stretching and turning within a sequence of movements that improve the health of body, mind, and spirit and when diligently practiced can improve circulation, balance and flexibility, and strengthen the immune system; and

WHEREAS, Instructors in the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA are nationally accredited volunteers; and

WHEREAS, That the aims and objectives of the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA are to make Taoist Tai Chi internal arts of health available to all, to promote the health-giving properties of Taoist Tai Chi Internal Arts of Health, to promote cultural exchange, and to help others; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That we congratulate the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA on the grand opening of its center in St. Charles, thank the Society for its efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle and wellness for all, and we proclaim February 23, 2013, to be Taoist Tai Chi Awareness Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Taoist Tai Chi Society-St. Charles as an expression of our esteem and respect.
