1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Drew Van
4 Kerrebroeck for receiving the "2013 Physician of Excellence
5 Award" from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and

6     WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across
7 our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural
8 settings; and

9     WHEREAS, Growing up in the small farming community of
10 Annawan, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck developed an early passion
11 and interest in rural life; and

12     WHEREAS, In 1999, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck graduated from
13 the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine; in 2003, he
14 completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at
15 St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria; and

16     WHEREAS, In 2003, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck returned to his
17 rural roots and joined the medical staff of Unity Point Health
18 Clinic and Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo; and

19     WHEREAS, Since that time, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck has
20 provided excellent care for his patients and has come to be

1 known as an "ambassador of rural health care" by those who know
2 and work with him; and

3     WHEREAS, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck currently serves on the
4 Regional Leadership Committee for Unity Point Health Clinic;
5 and

6     WHEREAS, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck has taken an active role
7 in enriching his community through his volunteer work with
8 Rebuilding Together, in which he and his family assist in home
9 remodeling projects for those in need; during his work with the
10 program, he has done everything from install windows to build
11 wheel chair ramps; and

12     WHEREAS, Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck has also been a
13 tremendous asset to the Henry and Stark County Health
14 Department; therefore, be it

15     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17 we commend Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck for his selfless service to
18 his community and the impact he has made on improving health
19 care for rural residents; and be it further

20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to Dr. Drew Van Kerrebroeck as a symbol or our

1 respect and esteem.
