HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers was founded in
31934 to fight anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination and
4intolerance; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers is the oldest
6Jewish Bar Association in the United States; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers promotes public
8education and legal action to protect the rights and privileges
9of all people; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society has remained ever vigilant
11against public and private practices which perpetuate racial
12and religious hatred, or are insensitive to the needs of
13minorities; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Decalogue Society members participate in social
15action, render useful community service, and cooperate in
16movements for the public welfare; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society provides free continuing
18legal education to assist members and non-members alike in
19becoming better informed lawyers; and

1    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society supports student chapters
2at seven law schools to encourage young lawyers to incorporate
3the ideals of religious freedom, racial tolerance, and public
4service into their future careers; and
 
5    WHEREAS, For 80 years, Decalogue Society members have
6worked diligently to bring increased dignity and honor to the
7legal profession; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate the members of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers
11on the occasion of its 80th anniversary; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the Decalogue Society of Lawyers as an expression
14of our esteem.
