SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tina Denise Westley, who passed away on July 2, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Tina Westley was born on December 22, 1984; she was the daughter of Jennifer Brown and Johnell Westley; she committed to her faith at an early age at Hope for Baptist Church; she attended and graduated from Beethoven Elementary School and DuSable High School; she earned her associate's degree from Robert Morris University; and

WHEREAS, Tina Westley's first job was at the Chicago Tribune, working as a full-time intern; she started her lifelong career at UCAN at the age of 19, where she was a servant leader; her last position was serving as a teacher's assistant at UCAN Academy; she was a proud member of the Illinois Chapter of the Foster Care Alumni of America, helping to bring awareness to change the child welfare community; and

WHEREAS, Tina Westley was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend; she became the star of any room she entered and could put a smile on anyone's face; she enjoyed traveling, listening to her R&B music, and being the life of the party; she will be remembered as a beautiful soul; and

WHEREAS, Tina Westley was preceded in death by her father, Johnell Westley; her brother, John Westley; her aunt, Vickie; and her uncles, Lewis, Anthony, James, Tyrone, and William; and

WHEREAS, Tina Westley is survived by her mother, Jennifer Brown; her children, Christina Williams, Chrissy Williams (Christopher Williams), and Raymond Jr. (Raymond Sr.); her sibling, Keisha Westley; her nephews, Ke'Sean Jones, Daveony Westley, and John McCoy; her goddaughter, Marquionna Gordon; her grandmothers, Openzy Brown and Elizabeth Westley; her aunts, Billie, Orchid, Darlene, Bobbie, and Sheila; her uncles, Todd, Anthony, and Donald Ray; her godmothers, Vanessa Hubson and Marvella Williams; her best friends, Ivory Brown, Kwana Christmas, Lene'e Pooh Johnson, Pristina Singleton, Chanel Smith, Onie Riley, and Rheba Misters; her sisters-in-law, Lakeisha Moore and Jackie Dickeson; her special friend, Christopher William; and a host of relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Tina Denise Westley and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tina Westley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
