SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Oscar William Carlson Jr. of Silvis,
4who passed away on May 26, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Oscar Carlson was born to Oscar W. Sr. and Leona
6VanDeWeghe Carlson in Kewanee on October 22, 1938; he was
7educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge
8High School in 1956; he attended St. Ambrose College in
9Davenport and then graduated from the University of Illinois
10at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
11Engineering in February of 1961; he then attended Officer
12Candidate School for the United States Navy from February of
131961 to July of 1964; he had been home ported out of Newport
14during active duty and went on several cruises to Europe and
15the Caribbean; he was a full lieutenant when he left the Navy;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Oscar Carlson worked at Stanley Consultants in
18Muscatine, Iowa from 1964 to 1987; he then worked for the C.T.
19Main Company in Charlotte, North Carolina for three years; in
201990, he transferred to the Cincinnati, Ohio office of R. M.
21Parsons Company; he retired in 1998 and returned to the Quad
22City area he loved, where he met and married Margaret "Peggy"
23Schmid on October 12, 2001; and

1    WHEREAS, Oscar Carlson was preceded in death by his
2parents; his sister, Nancy; and his brother, Richard; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Oscar Carlson is survived by his wife, Peggy; his
4many nieces and nephews; and his great-nieces and
5great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Oscar William Carlson and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Oscar Carlson as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
