SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Fred Hickman, who passed away on November 9, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hickman was born in 1956; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hickman got his start in radio before joining CNN in the cable news network's first year; he was one of the original co-hosts of CNN Sports Tonight; he remained with CNN until 2001, covering the NFL and NBA as well as several Olympics; he won two CableAce Awards while at CNN; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hickman joined the Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network (YES) before moving to spend several years at ESPN, where he was on SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, and NBA Coast to Coast, among other shows; later, he worked at Fox Sports and several local news stations before joining the short-lived Black News Network as evening newscast anchor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Fred Hickman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Fred Hickman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
