SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kimberly Joyce Payton, who passed away
4on April 7, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was born in Chicago to Ophelia
6Payton and Ray McElroy Sr. on January 2, 1981; as a young
7child, she was a member of Nazareth Lee Missionary Baptist
8Church in Jackson, Mississippi before her family relocated to
9Chicago and joined New Inspirational Missionary Baptist
10Church; she graduated from Jim Hill High School in Jackson,
11Mississippi in 2000 and attended Jackson State University; she
12received her degree from Everest College in Chicago; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was employed at Jackson Park
14Hospital and Medical Center as a Constant Observer; she was
15also employed with Comfort Care and Gratia as a Service
16Provider; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was a member of Greater Morning
18View Missionary Baptist Church; she had relationships and
19fellowship with a host of ministries, including Rose of Sharon
20Women's Group, the Pastor Paula Miller Ministry, and St. Luke
21Missionary Baptist; and

1    WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was affectionately known as KJ,
2Kimmie, Kim, and Momma Kim; her life's accomplishments were
3being a good mother and a national and local Stand for Children
4Fellow; she loved to advocate on behalf of children, sing, and
5talk to her family and friends; more than anything, she loved
6her mother, who has always been her rock; she loved her
7children, grandchildren, and job at Jackson Park Hospital; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was preceded in death by her
9father, Ray McElroy; her stepfather, Evis McGee; her
10grandmother, Pearline Gardner (Payton); her grandfathers,
11Prentiss Payton and Randolph Lindsey; her aunts, Christel
12Davis and Nina McElroy-Leslie; and her uncles, Randy Lindsey
13and Billy Payton; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton is survived by her mother,
15Ophelia McGee; her grandmother, Dorthy Lindsey; her children,
16Ja'Quavion Payton, Jeremiah Payton, Kayleb Payton, Kaylan
17Payton-Mosley (Jazzy), and Ma'Kaiya Payton; her grandson,
18Jameir Payton; her sister, Arishanta Bibbs (Corey); her
19brothers, Joseph Payton (Serina), Evis McGee Jr. (Karen), and
20Ray McElroy Jr.; her aunts, Pearlie Hawk (Auntee Mae Mae),
21Robin Tate, and Dr. Allison Dixon (Dr. Randy); her uncles,
22Lonnie Smith, Charles Payton (Uncle Mack), and Theodore
23Lindsey (Uncle Teddy); her great-aunts, Betty Miles, Aurelia
24Irwin, and Mary Jane Miller; her great-uncle, Harold Carter;

1her special cousins, Toya Smith and Christal Spencer; her
2special friend, Raymond Jones; and numerous special nieces,
3nephews, cousins, friends, and co-workers; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Kimberly Joyce Payton and extend our sincere condolences to
7her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Kimberly Payton as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
