HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Mark Guethle on the occasion of his retirement from the Painters Union District Council #30; and

WHEREAS, Mark Guethle attended trade school at the George Meany Center before being hired as an apprentice for the Painters Union District Council #14; he worked as a painter and wallpaper hanger; he became an organizer for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) District Council #30 in 1997; he was hired as the director of Government Affairs for Painters Union District Council #30, Local Union #97, in 2002; he was instrumental in securing money for apprenticeship programs and efforts to diversify the IUPAT District Council #30's workforce; he retired in September 2020; and

WHEREAS, Mark Guethle was elected Kane County Democratic Chairman in 2002, where he still serves; he has organized labor walks and phone bank operations for numerous candidates; he has served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention several times; he served as a state central committeeman for the 14th Congressional District; he has helped with roll calls on many issues at the federal, state, county, and municipal levels; his strong leadership, organizing, and fundraising capabilities have built a strong political organization for Kane County's Democratic Party; and

WHEREAS, Mark Guethle was elected to the North Aurora Village Board in 2003, and he still serves; he also serves as the chair of Operations; and

WHEREAS, Mark Guethle is an accomplished musician, and he plays the guitar at two different churches; he belongs to the North Aurora Lions Club; he enjoys seeing bands perform, basking in his pool, and cheering on Chicago sports teams; and

WHEREAS, Mark Guethle is the husband of Louise, the father of Marcus (Katie) and Brian, and the grandfather of four granddaughters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mark Guethle on his retirement from the Painters Union District Council #30 and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mark Guethle as an expression of our esteem and respect.
