HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dora Johnson, who passed away on April 9, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dora Johnson was born to Isaac Harper and Matilda Reid in Inverness, Mississippi on February 29, 1936; she formed a union with Otha Johnson in June of 1955; and

WHEREAS, After high school, she went to work at Champion Automotive from the 1960s to the 1970s; and

WHEREAS, Dora Johnson was a member of the Eastern Star Society; and

WHEREAS, Dora Johnson was known for her loving and caring spirit; she had a heart to help people and was always willing to help those around her; her love and kindness will always be remembered; and

WHEREAS, Dora Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Everlene Hull, Ella Mack, Allen Harper, Rosetta Smith, and Isaac Harper Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Dora Johnson is survived by her four sons, Darryl, Otha, Randy Sr., and Bruce; her five granddaughters, Burgundy, Myrala (Rodney), Genina, Sheena, and Jessica; her one grandson, Randy Jr.; her nine great-grandchildren, Dorshawn, Mya, Tyree, Zalynd, Alex, Excel Jr., Jasmine, Cassius, and Mckenzie; her one great-great-granddaughter, Jamya; her two sisters, Ruth Mae and Ellastine; her nieces and nephews; her cousins; her family; and her close friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dora Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dora Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
