HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate our colleague, Representative Andrew Chesney, on his distinguished service to the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has faithfully served the citizens of the 89th District, which includes, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties, since December 5, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney is grateful for the trust placed in him by the people of the 89th District and the citizens of Northwestern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has established a voting record that reflects the conservative values of his district, including supporting Second Amendment rights, the men and women of law enforcement, personal freedom, and the rights of parents to make decisions affecting their children's health, education, and upbringing; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has been a tireless advocate for the hardworking men and women of Northwest Illinois and has never voted for a tax or fee increase; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has been a leading voice for holding elected officials accountable and eliminating corruption in state government by sponsoring tough ethics reform legislation; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney's legislation aimed at reducing the market for animals sold through puppy mills was signed into law with the desired outcome of driving the Illinois pet market towards more humane sources like shelters, rescues, and responsible breeders; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney, prior to election to the House of Representatives, served as member of the Freeport City Council, where he built a reputation as a strong advocate for more funding for public infrastructure, blight reduction, and law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney is a past board member of the Regional Access Mobilization Project (RAMP), which provides support services and advocacy for people with disabilities, and is a former mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney is a proud graduate of Eastland High School; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a degree in Communication; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney and his wife, Kelly, reside in Freeport; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney was elected to serve as 45th District State Senator on November 8, 2022 and will be inaugurated into his new position on January 11, 2023

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to thank Representative Andrew Chesney for his four years of dedicated service as 89th District State Representative; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Rep. Chesney as an expression of our esteem and respect.
