SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. Gertrude Ann Wallace of Alton, who
4passed away on February 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Wallace was born in Wood River to Anton and
6Anna Mennemeyer on February 8, 1923; she married Kenneth C.
7Wallace in West Alton, Missouri on December 31, 1941; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rev. Wallace was a licensed practical nurse at
9Lincoln Memorial Hospital; she was also a licensed minister
10with the Illinois District of the Assemblies of God; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rev. Wallace and her husband were ministers at
12Assemblies of God for six decades; they ministered at the Mason
13City Assembly of God Church for over 40 years; they also served
14as interim pastors at various churches for 10 years and worked
15with the MAPS program across the country; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rev. Wallace was a member of the Carlinville
17Assembly of God Church and then Abundant Life Community Church
18in Alton; in 2013, the Illinois District of the Assemblies of
19God honored her with the first Legacy Award, given to ministers
20who have served as role models of faith, service, and
21leadership; and

1    WHEREAS, Rev. Wallace was preceded in death by her husband,
2Kenneth, and her siblings, Al, Agnes, Helen, Gina, Francis,
3Clarence, Grace, and Harold; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rev. Wallace is survived by her children, Donald
5L. (Barbara) Wallace, and Dr. Jane (Rev. Gerald) Calaway; her
6grandchildren, Kimberly (Brad) Kruisselbrink, Ken (Cindy)
7Wallace, Jaynanne (Dr. Ron) Calaway-Habeck, and Dr. Jared
8(Stacy) Calaway; her great-great-grandchildren, Stanton,
9Austin, Kassidy, Bekah, Jaryn, Ben, and Xander; six
10step-great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Rev. Gertrude Ann Wallace, and extend our sincere condolences
15to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Rev. Wallace as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
