SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard P. "Dick" Miller of Bloomington,
4who passed away on August 23, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Miller was born in Tiskilwa to Raymond P. and
6Blanche Ames Miller on July 29, 1936; he married Avalon Sash in
7Tiskilwa on June 28, 1958; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dick Miller began his career at the General
9Telephone Co., serving over 40 years; he retired as the
10Director of Governmental Affairs; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dick Miller was a member of the Western Illinois
12University Foundation Board, where he served for 25 years; he
13was a longtime member of the Cavalry United Methodist Church,
14where he served in a variety of ways; he was an avid golfer and
15enjoyed socializing with family and friends; he especially
16enjoyed his visits with the "Garage Kings" in his neighborhood;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dick Miller was preceded in death by his parents
19and his sister, Kai Nelson; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dick Miller is survived by his wife, Avalon; his

1sons, Dr. Gary (Jan) Sash and Ron (Terri) Miller; his
2grandchildren, Nick Sash, Jason Sash, Eric Sash, Jessica
3Kirkpatrick, and Jennifer Miller; his great-grandchildren,
4Matthew Sash, Makayla Sash, Maxwell Sash, Logan Sash, Brooke
5Kirkpatrick, and Abby Kirkpatrick; his brothers, David (Deko)
6Miller and Jerry (Carolyn) Miller; and his brother-in-law,
7Russell Nelson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Richard P. "Dick" Miller, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Dick Miller as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
