SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Peggy L. Zimmerman of Cottage Hills, who passed away on January 28, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Zimmerman was born in East St. Louis to Raymond and Mary Mildred (Dockins) Roberson on April 13, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Zimmerman retired as a Staff Representative of AFSCME Council 31; she was a member of the Greater Madison County Federation of Labor, Southwestern Illinois Democratic Women, AFSCME Retiree Sub-Chapter 59, and the Alton VFW #1308 Women's Auxiliary; she served as a precinct committee woman and worked most of her life fighting for the rights of others; she also volunteered at the Hope Center; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Zimmerman enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her kids and grandkids participate in sports, watching cheerleading and wrestling, and spending time on the water; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Zimmerman was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Zimmerman; her brother, Lowell Roberson; and her grandchildren, Mary, Teagan, and Blaize; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Zimmerman is survived by her children, Dallas Zimmerman, Tammie (Chris) Blevins, Jodi Kaye Zimmerman, and Travis Zimmerman; her grandchildren, Chelsea, Dez, Aerika, Kylea, Dakota, Kale, Noa, Harper, and Averee; her great-grandchildren, Raegan, Azuriah, Malachi, Ryann, and another great-grandson on the way; and many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Peggy L. Zimmerman, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Peggy Zimmerman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
