| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dallas M. Burke of Godfrey, who passed | 4 | | away on January 27, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Burke was born in Germantown, Wisconsin to | 6 | | Adolph and Beulah (Lied) Strack on November 9, 1926; she | 7 | | graduated from the cadet program at the St. Joseph School of | 8 | | Nursing and was the school nurse at Western Military Academy in | 9 | | Alton for a short time; she married Thomas J. "Bud" Burke Jr. | 10 | | in Alton on June 25, 1948; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Burke co-owned and operated the Burke | 12 | | Funeral Home in Alton and Grafton for many years with her | 13 | | husband; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Burke was the first female coroner elected | 15 | | in the State of Illinois, serving from 1972 until her | 16 | | retirement in 2000; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Burke was awarded the YWCA Woman of | 18 | | Distinction Award in 2002; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Burke was preceded in death by her parents; | 20 | | her husband, Thomas; and her son, Thomas J. "TJ" Burke III; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Burke is survived by her daughters, Debby | 2 | | (Marc) Lambert, Sandy (Nick) Moehn, and Pam Burke-O'Boyle; her | 3 | | son, Shaun Burke; her grandchildren, Jamie Lambert (Sean | 4 | | VanMeter), Jeremy "Bo" (Roo) Lambert, Shane Lambert (Katelyn | 5 | | Burns), Jodie (Danny) Thomeczek, Geoffrey Moehn, Marcie (Dan) | 6 | | Boyce, Niki Jo (Jeremy) Elliott, Molly (Robert) McAfoos, Niles | 7 | | Moehn, Amber O'Boyle, Marissa O'Boyle, Shealor O'Boyle, and | 8 | | Trevor O'Boyle; and 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Dallas M. Burke, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
