SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen Marie Emerick of Wood River, who
4passed away on October 11, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Emerick was born at her family's home in
6Alton to Walter Talmage and Lena (Griffin) Greer in 1924; she
7married Edward Leroy Emerick in Seattle, Washington in 1944;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Helen Emerick spent her adult life working as a
10secretary and raising her family; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Helen Emerick was a lifetime member of the First
12Baptist Church in Wood River; she was an avid fan of the St.
13Louis Cardinals and had her dream come true when her
14granddaughter's husband pitched for the Cardinals; she loved
15her singing group, The Sweet Sounds; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Helen Emerick was preceded in death by her
17parents; her brothers, Walter T. and Lindsey Carroll; and her
18sisters, Ruby and Eva; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Helen Emerick is survived by her husband, Edward;
20her daughter, Donna Smith (Dan); her sons, Dale (Joy), Dana

1(Micki), and Dean (Sheila); her grandchildren, Nicole (Will)
2Balcom, Ryne (Elizabeth) Emerick, Leah (Keith) Butler, Daniel,
3Danelle, and Drew; her great-grandchildren; and her special
4nieces, Evalena O'Dell and Eloise JoHann; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Helen Marie Emerick, and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Helen Emerick as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
