SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
415 ILCS 5/9.12a new
415 ILCS 5/12.2a new

    Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Provides that when a permit is required that may impact either air pollution or water pollution, notice shall be provided to the State Senator and House Representatives of the district where the facility will be located and the public within 15 days from the date the application is filed.

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
5adding Sections 9.12a and 12.2a as follows:
 
6    (415 ILCS 5/9.12a new)
7    Sec. 9.12a. Notice. When a permit is required under Title X
8that may impact air pollution, notice shall be provided by
9certified or registered mail to the State Senator and House
10Representatives of the district where the facility will be
11located and the public within 15 days from the date the
12application is filed. The Agency shall work with local
13officials and community groups to ensure the public is
14informed. No permit shall be issued until all notices have been
15provided.
