HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Lucinda Schmitt on the occasion of her retirement as Superintendent of Gallatin County Schools on July 20, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt worked as a teacher's aide for Gallatin County Schools from 1985 to 1999; during this time, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1998 and her Elementary Certificate from Southern Illinois University in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt worked as a Junior High Special Education Teacher for Gallatin County Schools from 1999 to 2004 and earned her Master of Science in Education Administration with Principal Endorsement from Eastern Illinois University in 2004; she was a Special Education Coordinator from 2004 to 2005; and

WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt served as Principal of Gallatin County High School from 2005 to July of 2012; during that time, she also served as Title I Coordinator from 2007 to July of 2012; she earned her Educational Specialist-Superintendent Endorsement from Eastern Illinois University in 2012; and

WHEREAS, In July of 2012, Lucinda Schmitt became the first female Superintendent for Gallatin County Schools; and

WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt and her husband, David, have two sons, Justin and Johnathan (Amanda), and four grandchildren, Michael, Morgan, Carlee, and Camryn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lucinda Schmitt on her retirement as Superintendent of Gallatin County Schools, and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lucinda Schmitt as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
