HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lucinda Schmitt on the
4occasion of her retirement as Superintendent of Gallatin County
5Schools on July 20, 2018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt worked as a teacher's aide for
7Gallatin County Schools from 1985 to 1999; during this time,
8she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern
9Illinois University in 1998 and her Elementary Certificate from
10Southern Illinois University in 1999; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt worked as a Junior High Special
12Education Teacher for Gallatin County Schools from 1999 to 2004
13and earned her Master of Science in Education Administration
14with Principal Endorsement from Eastern Illinois University in
152004; she was a Special Education Coordinator from 2004 to
162005; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt served as Principal of Gallatin
18County High School from 2005 to July of 2012; during that time,
19she also served as Title I Coordinator from 2007 to July of
202012; she earned her Educational Specialist-Superintendent
21Endorsement from Eastern Illinois University in 2012; and

1    WHEREAS, In July of 2012, Lucinda Schmitt became the first
2female Superintendent for Gallatin County Schools; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lucinda Schmitt and her husband, David, have two
4sons, Justin and Johnathan (Amanda), and four grandchildren,
5Michael, Morgan, Carlee, and Camryn; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8congratulate Lucinda Schmitt on her retirement as
9Superintendent of Gallatin County Schools, and we wish her the
10best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Lucinda Schmitt as a symbol of our respect and
13esteem.
