HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Bartelso Elementary School varsity boys basketball team, the Braves, on winning the 2018 Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association (SIJHSAA) Class S State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Braves defeated Carrier Mills by a score of 57-46 at the championship game at Rend Lake College on February 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The Braves finished the season with a perfect record of 32-0; they are the only boys basketball team in the history of Bartelso Elementary School to go undefeated, and they are the first boys basketball team from Bartelso to place in the State Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Braves are coached by Head Coach Tim Moore and Assistant Coaches Troy Loepker and Luke Winkeler; and

WHEREAS, The eighth grade members of the Braves are Dalton Boruff, Trey Gerdes, Logan Kluemke, Jace Loepker, Brady Moore, Jacob Patton, Hayden Theobald, and Caleb Voss; the seventh grade members of the Braves are Connor Becker, Bryce Behrman, Connor Loepker, Hayden Rickhoff, and Jack Shelton; and

WHEREAS, In addition to winning the SIJHSAA Class S State Championship, the Braves also won the Pinckneyville Tournament, the Clinton County Conference Tournament, the Bethel Tournament, and the Okawville Regional Tournament; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Bartelso Elementary School varsity boys basketball team, the Braves, on winning the 2018 SIJHSAA Class S State Championship, and we wish them many more successful years on the court; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the coaches and members of the Braves as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
