HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Marlena Ascher on the occasion of her retirement as president and board member of the Northwest Arts Connection (NAC) on February 1, 2018; and

WHEREAS, In addition to serving as president and board member, Marlena Ascher founded the organization in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Marlena Ascher's desire was to transform the northwest side into a destination for artists, and by all accounts, she has far exceeded her original goal; and

WHEREAS, Some of Marlena Ascher's accomplishments include establishing the Avondale Restaurant Crawl, the Around the Corner Student Arts Exhibits, and the Annual Winter Wonderland at City Newsstand; and

WHEREAS, Under the direction of Marlena Ascher, the NAC has achieved an excellent reputation, and she will be greatly missed; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Marlena Ascher on her retirement as president and board member of the Northwest Arts Connection, and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marlena Ascher as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
