HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the West Lincoln-Broadwell Elementary School 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams on winning their respective 2017 Illinois Elementary School Association State Championships; and

WHEREAS, The 7th grade girls basketball team won the Class 7-1A state championship with a 40 to 30 win over Sacred Heart School (Pana) in the championship game, completing an undefeated season of 26 wins and zero losses; and

WHEREAS, The 7th grade team was led by Kloe Froebe with 19 points, Asia Sales with 10, and Tori Schilling with nine; they were coached by by Kari Froebe, Cory Farmer, and Ashley Paulus; and

WHEREAS, The 8th grade girls basketball team matched their 7th grade counterparts by winning the Class 8-1A State Championship and capping off an undefeated season of 28 wins and zero losses; and

WHEREAS, The 8th grade team was led by Kloe Froebe with 21 points and Elly Martinez with 10; they were coached by Kari Froebe, Cory Farmer, and Ashley Paulus; and

WHEREAS, The players on both teams, Kloe Froebe, Asia Sales, Tori Schilling, Emma Baker, Alyssa Bishop, Kylie Boyer, Jenna Bowman, Rebecca Byrge, Tori Geriets, Regan Goodney, Becca Heitzig, Elly Martinez, Alison Turner, Jane Turner, Piper Whiteman, and Jazmyn Robbins played an excellent season, using teamwork, commitment, and hard work to overcome the many challenges that this season has presented and to complete such a commending accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, The managers, Myah Bowman, Mia Clark, and Mesa McCloud, Athletic Director Kris Skold, Principal Heather Baker, and Superintendent Bailey Climer played a vital role in the leadership behind the success of the teams; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend and applaud the West Lincoln-Broadwell Elementary School 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams on their state championships, and on their humility and respect for one another on and off the basketball court; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the coaches and players of the West Lincoln-Broadwell 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams and to the West Lincoln-Broadwell Elementary School Athletic Department.
