HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Jeffrey Berman on his 30
4years of distinguished service to the Village of Buffalo Grove;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Berman served as a dedicated member of the
7Buffalo Grove Plan Commission for nearly a decade prior to
8becoming a Village Trustee; during his time on the Plan
9Commission, he facilitated the controlled and deliberate
10growth of the community; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Berman was first elected to the Buffalo
12Grove Village Board in 1999; he uninterruptedly served until
13his retirement, making him Buffalo Grove's longest-serving
14trustee; during his tenure, he was the Chairman of the Village
15Zoning Ordinance Review Committee from 2000 until 2002; he
16leveraged his years of professional expertise through his
17longstanding appointments as the Village Board's liaison for
18legal and transportation policy issues; he further served as
19the Village President Pro Tem from 2011 until his retirement;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Berman dedicated a great deal of his
22career in public service to ensuring that all residents of

1Buffalo Grove had access to quality transportation; this
2steadfast work included his service as the Vice Chairman, Board
3of Directors, Citizens to Protect Quality of Life Through
4Better Transportation from 1999 until 2004; he was the Village
5Representative to the Lake County Transportation Improvement
6Project from 1999 until 2003; he served on the Metropolitan
7Mayors' Caucus Transportation Task Force as a Representative of
8the Lake County Municipal League from 2002 until 2004 and is a
9current member of the Board of Directors of the Lake County
10Transportation Alliance; he represented Lake County from 2010
11until 2013 as a member of the Metra Citizens Advisory Board and
12also served as Chairman from 2001 until 2013; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Since 2000, Jeffrey Berman has proudly given his
14time and energy as the Village's Team Captain for the American
15Cancer Society's Relay for Life; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Berman, an attorney with a nationwide
17practice in complex commercial litigation, has been a resident
18of Buffalo Grove since 1988; he and his wife, Jane, are the
19parents of two daughters, Laura and Claire; he earned a
20Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with Honors in 1984
21from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctorate from the
22University of Illinois College of Law in 1987, where he served
23as an associate editor of the Law Review; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3congratulate Jeffrey Berman on his years of humble and faithful
4service to the Village of Buffalo Grove, as well as his role as
5an inspiration for all those who seek to make their communities
6stronger and more vibrant; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Jeffrey Berman as an expression of our esteem and
9respect.
