HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Burress on November 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Bob Burress was born in Corinth Mississippi on March 19, 1941; he was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Social Science; and

WHEREAS, Bob Burress was a dedicated public servant; he worked as a police office for over 27 years, moving up the ranks from detective to sergeant, and finally, chief of police in Pekin; he retired from law enforcement in 1995 and stayed active in his community; and

WHEREAS, Bob Burress served on the Tazewell County 911 Board and the Tazewell County Board of Review; he also served as the Cincinnati Township Assessor and on the Pekin Police Pension Fund Board; he was a founding member and director of the Illinois Public Pension Fund Association; and

WHEREAS, Bob Burress believed in community service and helping others; he was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center 916 and Pekin AMBUCS; he attended Pekin First Church of the Nazarene; and

WHEREAS, Bob Burress is survived by his wife, Mary Burress; four children; and eight grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Burress and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Burress as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
