HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Brad Vinyard on earning a bronze medal at the World's Strongest Disabled Man competition in Norway on September 8, 2018; and

WHEREAS, 22 years ago, Brad Vinyard, a three-sport senior athlete at Harrisburg High School was diagnosed with osteosarcoma; this led to a knee replacement and then a leg amputation; and

WHEREAS, Brad Vinyard did not let his diagnosis or his disability slow him down and maintained a continued dedication to competitive sports; and

WHEREAS, Brad Vinyard's reasons for competing have never been about trophies, medals, or awards; he desires to motivate those who might be struggling with a difficulty in their lives; and

WHEREAS, After a few weeks to recover, Brad Vinyard will be back in the gym prepping for his next event; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Brad Vinyard on earning a bronze medal at the World's Strongest Disabled Man competition and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Brad Vinyard as an expression of our esteem and respect.
