HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor and congratulate Kathy Lynn Wear
4on her retirement from teaching and school administration at
5the Blessed Sacrament School in Springfield; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Frank
7and Viola (Tipsword) Kabbes on August 20, 1955; she grew up in
8Effingham and graduated as valedictorian of her class at St.
9Anthony High School; she graduated from Quincy College in 1977
10with high honors; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear's first teaching job was at Maine North
12High School in Glenview from 1977 to 1981; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear married James Wear on August 20, 1981
14in Effingham and they moved to Springfield, where she taught at
15Blessed Sacrament School from 1981 to 1983; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear then chose to stay home and nurture her
17three children, Sarah born June 30, 1983, Adam born September
1830, 1985, and Jacob born January 5, 1986, all of whom attended
19Blessed Sacrament School; all three were accomplished students
20like their mother and now serve as public accountants; and

1    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear returned to teaching English at Blessed
2Sacrament School in 1993; she was chosen as principal of the
3school in 2002 and has served in that capacity since then;
4during this time, she obtained her Master's in School
5Administration; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear has been a dedicated, supportive,
7caring, creative, and compassionate leader at Blessed
8Sacrament School, not only to her students, but also to the
9teachers and staff; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear has successfully guided Blessed
11Sacrament School through an exciting period of growth and
12expansion, both for the school campus and environment, but also
13with the number of students, now totaling 515 students from
14preschool through 8th grade, and over 50 teachers and staff
15members; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kathy Wear exemplifies and lives out the school's
17mission of students "learning to make a difference" through a
18Catholic education that nurtures the whole student - body,
19mind, and spirit - and encourages each to develop a lifelong
20personal relationship with Christ in a caring community; and
 
21    WHEREAS, It would be impossible to count the number of
22sporting events, geography and spelling bees, plays and

1musicals, and numerous other activities that Kathy Wear
2attended to see her students perform and cheer them on; it
3would be easier to count the very few she did miss; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Now a grandmother, Kathy Wear is ready, after 25
5years of service as a teacher, parent, and principal to Blessed
6Sacrament School, to enjoy retirement, travel with her husband,
7Jim, and spend time with her wonderful children, their
8families, and her beautiful grandchildren; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The entire Blessed Sacrament School family - and
10it is truly a family - will miss her smile and her support
11every day and are grateful for her years of service and the
12many wonderful memories they have of her; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15honor Kathy Lynn Wear for her 25 years of dedicated service to
16Blessed Sacrament School and to her community; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Kathy Wear as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
