HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the Illinois Sheriffs'
4Association for their 90 years of service to Illinois' sheriffs
5and the counties they represent; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The mission of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association
7is to protect the Office of Sheriff, provide executive level
8training to sheriffs and staff, provide research, resources,
9and technical assistance to sheriffs' offices, assist in
10establishing the "rule of law" for the Illinois Criminal
11Justice Community, and provide resources for community
12initiatives and education; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The primary role of the Illinois Sheriffs'
14Association is to gain community support and build better bonds
15between sheriffs, the Association, and the communities they
16serve; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association emphasizes the
18sheriffs' dedication to public safety, protecting lives, and
19fighting crime; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association expresses the
21importance of professionalism and effectiveness with Illinois

1law enforcement by strengthening the correlation between
2sheriffs and community-based initiatives, such as youth
3scholarships, Special Olympics, drug awareness, training,
4legislation, and more; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association provides
6programs dedicated to supporting the State's 102 sheriffs in
7every way possible; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association takes pride in
9all of its charitable goals and missions; for years it has been
10focused on the youth of the State, truly committed to the
11belief that an investment in children will pay huge dividends
12in the future; additionally, the protection and care of the
13oldest and most vulnerable citizens is not only a commitment of
14the Association, but also a duty and a responsibility; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The organization is built on principles, but it is
16judged on the values, dedication, and commitment of its
17members; this organization belongs to the sheriffs of Illinois,
18and every sheriff is an equal partner in its efforts;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22recognize the Illinois Sheriffs' Association and the sheriffs

1they support, and we congratulate the Association on their 90
2years of dedicated service; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the Illinois Sheriffs' Association as an
5expression of our esteem and respect.
