HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois recognizes the historical
3tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis
4of civilized society and upon which our great nation was
5founded; and
 
6    WHEREAS, These ethical values and principles have been the
7bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they
8were known as the Seven Noahide Laws; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In order to secure a bright future for America, we
10must instill in our children a love of learning as well as a
11spirit of compassion, two of our nation's most cherished and
12enduring values; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Lubavitch-Chabad movement has fostered and
14promoted these ethical values and principles in all 50 states,
15100 countries, and more than 3,000 communities around the
16world, and through the educational and social service programs
17of their 47 centers in Illinois; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The importance of education and kindness was
19promoted in the teachings and programs of Rabbi Menachem Mendel
20Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory, by
21inspiring countless individuals to uphold these values in their

1own lives and communities; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson is universally
3respected and revered for his concern for all humanity; the
4116th anniversary of his birthday falls on March 27, 2018;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8declare March 27, 2018, the 116th anniversary of the birth of
9Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, as
10"Education and Sharing Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the Lubavitch-Chabad movement as a symbol of our
14respect and esteem.
