HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On April 29 and 30, 2017, 14 students will be completing an aerospace project to try and break the world record for the highest radio-controlled airplane flight; and

WHEREAS, These students have completed a six-week training program in which they learned how to put together a project of this nature, how to fly radio-controlled airplanes, and how to read and understand the telemetry information sent back to the ground station from the aircraft; and

WHEREAS, Their studies included meteorology, aeronautics, aerodynamics, electrical theory, and system integration; and

WHEREAS, They built, assembled, and tested three unmanned air vehicles that will attempt to reach 100,000 feet and shatter the current record for highest radio-controlled airplane flight; and

WHEREAS, The 14 students from Nippersink Middle School and Richmond Burton High School will travel to Spaceport, New Mexico to undertake an Aerospace STEM Challenge; and

WHEREAS, The students are Gerrit Kaup, Jacob Minker, Maggie Ortmeyer, Eric Gordon, Hanne Nestler, Cody Lillge, Max Glassar, Austin Mazur, Luke Brumm, Nick Ross, Moss Johnson, Camille Husko, Vanessa Zaluski, and Rachel Stark; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize these 14 students for the work they have done and wish them luck at the Aerospace STEM Challenge; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the 14 students as an expression of our esteem and respect.
