SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/10-20.67 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.60 new

    Amends the Department of State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois and the School Code. Requires the Department of State Police to annually determine the 5 most frequently committed crimes by minors and any criminal, civil, or other penalties associated with these crimes, compile a report of this information, and make the report publicly available on the Department's website. Provides that the Chicago Board of Education shall require each high school to annually distribute the report to its students electronically or in the form of a letter; permits other school boards to require a high school to distribute the report. Provides that if a high school distributes the report electronically, it shall obtain from its students electronic acknowledgment of receipt of the report.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of State Police Law of the Civil
5Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section
62605-610 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2605/2605-610 new)
8    Sec. 2605-610. Creation of list of top crimes committed by
9minors. The Department shall annually determine the 5 most
10frequently committed crimes by minors and any criminal, civil,
11or other penalties associated with these crimes, compile a
12report of this information, and make the report publicly
13available on the Department's website.
 
14    Section 10. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
1510-20.67 and 34-18.60 as follows:
 
16    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.67 new)
17    Sec. 10-20.67. Distribution of list of top crimes committed
18by minors. The school board of any district that maintains
19grades 9 through 12 may require each high school to annually
20distribute to its students, electronically or in the form of a
21letter, the report found on the Department of State Police's
