SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles W. "Charlie" "Bob" Weiss of
4Hampton, who passed away on August 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Weiss was born in Clarion, Iowa on October
67, 1932 to Charlie E. and Marian F. Smith Weiss; he was raised
7on the family farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Dows,
8Iowa; he moved to Illinois in 1943; he served in the United
9States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954,
10stationed on the 38th Parallel; he married Valerie Baff on
11April 17, 1955 at Port Byron Methodist Church; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charles Weiss started work at the age of 16 at
13International Harvester in East Moline, where he worked for 43
14years before retiring; he then contracted with them for 13 more
15years until the plant closed in 2004; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Charles Weiss was a member of Hampton Grace
17Methodist Church for 50 years, a Free Mason for 55 years, Past
18Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a Hampton
19volunteer firefighter; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Charles Weiss was preceded in death by his
21parents; his infant daughter, Lisa Jeane; his brother, Harold

1Lee; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Weiss; and his brother-in law,
2Jerry Baff; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Charles Weiss is survived by his wife of 60 years,
4Valerie; his daughter, Stacey (Michael) Graham; his son,
5Charles J. (Melinda) Weiss; his grandchildren, Tami (Guy)
6Gerard, Jeremy (Teanna) McCabe, Charles Thomas (Sherrod)
7Weiss, Joseph Weiss, and Hilary Graham (fiance, Jeffery
8Shaffer); his great-grandchildren, Morgan and Alexis Gerard,
9Myles and Cole McCabe, and Landen Shaffer; his sister, Betty
10Baff; and his brothers, William Weiss and Byrl Weiss;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Charles W. "Charlie" "Bob" Weiss, and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Charles Weiss as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
