SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard E. Votava of Woodstock, who passed away on August 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Richard Votava was born on July 31, 1926 in Chicago; his parents were Edward and Judith (Jurcek) Votava; he married Mabel Becker on January 15, 1949 in Wood Dale; and

WHEREAS, Richard Votava served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Richard Votava worked as a plumber and was a member of the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union Local 130; and

WHEREAS, Richard Votava loved reading, studying history, and the outdoors; he enjoyed camping, hiking, and traveling with his wife, especially in the southwest desert region; and

WHEREAS, Richard Votava was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons-in-law, Edward Sadoski and Mike Mangiardi; and 4 sisters, Eleanor, Lavern, Margaret, and June; and

WHEREAS, Richard Votava is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mabel; 5 children, Margaret Sadoski, Janice Mangiardi, Donna (Peter) Francis, Deborah (Horst) Bauer, and Richard C. Votava; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard E. Votava; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Votava as an expression of our sympathy.
