SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stanley E. "Stan" Smith of Rock Island, who passed away on August 8, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Smith was born on September 3, 1933 in Miles, Iowa; his parents were Herbert and Gertrude Smith; he married Linda Jacobs on February 22, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Smith joined the United States Air Force in 1953, where he served as a radar technician; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Smith retired from Alcoa on April 29, 1994 after 30 years of service on the hotline; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Smith was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan; he also enjoyed riding his bike, fishing with his son Richard, and having coffee with his buddies he met at the Rock Island Hy-Vee and Hardees; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Smith was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and 3 sisters; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Smith is survived by his wife, Linda; 2 sons, Richard and David Smith; and a daughter, Brenda (Tom) Neer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Stanley E. "Stan" Smith; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stanley Smith as an expression of our sympathy.
