SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Albert Griffiths of Hanover, who
4passed away on August 9, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Griffiths was born on February 8, 1919 in
6Keosauqua, Iowa; his parents were Roy and Kathryn (nee Lazenby)
7Griffiths; he married Betty Gibson on December 5, 1942 in
8Washington, D.C.; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James Griffiths attended Van Buren County School
10in Keosauqua; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Griffiths honorably served his country as a
12member of the United States Army Air Corps, earning the rank of
13sergeant; and
 
14    WHEREAS, James Griffiths was employed as an electrician and
15businessman in the Village of Hanover and Flexonics in Savanna
16until his retirement; and
 
17    WHEREAS, James Griffiths was a Life Member of Hanover
18Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5300; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Griffiths enjoyed fixing anything that was

1broken, talking to his friends, golfing, and spending time with
2his family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, James Griffiths was preceded in death by his wife,
4Betty; a grandson, Landon James Delvaux; and 2 great-grandsons,
5Patrick and Samuel Griffiths; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Griffiths is survived by his children, Al
7(Sandra) Griffiths, Dwaine Griffiths, Larry (Laurie)
8Griffiths, Jeff (Joyce) Griffiths, and Linda (Rick) Delvaux; 8
9grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2
10great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of James Albert
14Griffiths; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of James Griffiths as an expression of
17our sympathy.
