SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald J. Edmonds of Rock Island, who passed away on August 8, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Donald Edmonds was born on November 9, 1935 in Rock Island; his parents were Emerson and Ethel Schumacher Edmonds; he married Bonnie Mewes on January 8, 1968 in Rockford; and

WHEREAS, Donald Edmonds served his country as a member of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Donald Edmonds worked at the Alcoa Davenport Works for 25 years until his retirement in August of 1990; after his retirement, he worked as the sexton at Trinity Anglican Church in Rock Island for several years; and

WHEREAS, Donald Edmonds was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rock Island; he enjoyed watching sporting events and attending his grandchildren's baseball games; and

WHEREAS, Donald Edmonds was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie; his grandsons, Roy McDonnell, Jr. and Nik Edmonds; a brother, Bill Edmonds; and a sister, Pat Bleuer; and

WHEREAS, Donald Edmonds is survived by his children, Debbie (Roy) McDonnell, Sr., Brenda Chewning, Julie McElroy, Cheryl (Steve) Reist, Theresa (Mark) Lucas, Sr., Tawnya Schroeder, Steve (Mikki) Edmonds, and Kelly (Dean) Behrens; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Jeanne Heater, Lois (Rick) Czupka, and Kathy (Jim) Williams; and a special friend, Hazel Wakeland; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald J. Edmonds; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Edmonds as an expression of our sympathy.
