SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dean Schwartzkopf of rural Milan, who passed away on July 27, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dean Schwartzkopf was born on July 26, 1938 in Alexis; his parents were Earl Wesley and Edna Beatrice House Schwartzkopf; in 1962, he married Linda Tornes in Coal Valley; they divorced in 1982 but remained close friends over the years; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Roseville High School in 1957, Dean Schwartzkopf served his country in the United States Army until 1959; and

WHEREAS, Dean Schwartzkopf worked at Alcoa in Bettendorf for over 33 years until his retirement in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Dean Schwartzkopf was knowledgeable in agricultural history and could talk for hours about tractors and farming; he had a love for antique tractors and was a member and President of the Edwards River Antique Tractor Association and Vice President of the newly formed Illinois Massey Collectors Association Chapter 8; he was also a member of the Maple City Antique Tractor Association, the Spoon River Antique Agricultural Association, and the Argyle Antique Gas Engine Association; and

WHEREAS, Dean Schwartzkopf enjoyed supporting Kevin Goben Racing at the local dirt track, attending Mallards hockey games, and NASCAR; he also loved attending family gatherings, visiting with people, and monthly get-togethers with his high school classmates; and

WHEREAS, Dean Schwartzkopf was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willard Schwartzkopf; a daughter, Dana Schwartzkopf; and a special great-niece, Renae Stevens; and

WHEREAS, Dean Schwartzkopf is survived by 2 sons, Jay and Paul Schwartzkopf; a grandson, Aaron Motsinger; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Schwartzkopf; 2 sisters, Betty Stevens and Marty Thurman; his ex-wife, Linda Barton; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Dean Schwartzkopf; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dean Schwartzkopf as an expression of our sympathy.
