SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. Squires, Sr. of Moline, who passed away on July 22, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Robert Squires, Sr. was born on May 22, 1935 in Quincy; his parents were Walter P. Squires and Pearlena (Charles) Bigsby Lang; he married Mary E. Williams on December 12, 1955 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Squires, Sr. graduated from Moline High School with the Class of 1953; and

WHEREAS, Robert Squires, Sr. served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Robert Squires, Sr. was a member of Bricklayers Local #6 in Rock Island for 57 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Squires, Sr. was an active member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island; he loved woodworking, outdoor yard work, bricklaying, and music; and

WHEREAS, Robert Squires, Sr. is survived by his wife, Mary; 4 children, Robert L. Squires, Jr., Curtis "Jay" (Deanna) Squires, Sherry Squires, and Linda (Richard) Desper; 5 grandchildren, Robert Squires, III (Kaylynn), Abigail (Neal) Bush, Jaysson Squires, Courtney Squires, and Richard Carlson (girlfriend, Allison); 3 great-grandchildren, Nathan Bush, Olivia Bush, and Charlee Ann (expected October 2015); his dearest friends, Ryan, Shannon, and Regan LaPay; and his 4-legged buddy, Major Bob; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert L. Squires, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Squires, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
