SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy Rude of Decatur, who passed away on July 23, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Rude served the mental health and community service sector for 25 years; she began working at Heritage Behavioral Health 25 years ago as a case manager; she worked her way up and became the Director of the Oasis Day Center in 1999; and

WHEREAS, As leader of the Oasis Day Center, Nancy Rude oversaw Decatur's largest homeless shelter, assisting as many as 80 unique visitors on a daily basis with such things as a hot meal, a shower, and a place to stay cool or escape the heat; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Rude always went above and beyond to help an individual with whatever problem they were facing; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Rude will always be remembered for being kind and compassionate and for her desire to help others; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancy Rude, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Nancy Rude as an expression of our esteem and respect.
