SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frances A. Larsen of McHenry, who passed away on June 17, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was born in Hanna, Indiana on April 18, 1926 to Calvin and Eva Thomas; she was later adopted by Merritt and Alice Metz; she married Otto Larsen on June 30, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was reported to be the first female meter reader in the state of Indiana; she was an Illinois Bell phone operator in Champaign-Urbana and customer service representative in McHenry until 1962; and

WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was an avid gardener, cook, and the self-proclaimed "Mayor of Riverside Drive"; she served on the McHenry District 15 School Board for 13 years and was one of the founding members of McHenry's Pigtail League; when she and her husband first arrived in McHenry, they were active McHenry Little League contributors; she was a member of the McHenry County League of Women Voters, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Historical Society; she also volunteered her time with P.A.D.S. and was an election judge official for many years; and

WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; and

WHEREAS, Frances Larsen is survived by her 3 adopted children, Hans (Janet), Fritz, and Greta (Joseph); her grandchildren, Emily and Otto Krueger; and her sisters, Mary Evers and Lucy Finch; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frances A. Larsen, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frances Larsen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
