SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph S. Munos, who passed away on June 26, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Munos was born on January 31, 1926 in Moline; his parents were Ysabel and Victoria Montecino Munos; and

WHEREAS, In 1944, at the age of 17, Joseph Munos voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps; he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1946; he was called back to serve in 1950 to fight in the Korean War and was again honorably discharged in December of 1951; and

WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Joseph Munos settled with his wife and children in Yuma, Arizona, where he worked and traveled as an employee for the United States Department of Defense; in 1968, he served a 9-month tour of duty in Vietnam as a civilian; he then continued to work for the Department of Defense, which included an assignment at the Rock Island Arsenal, until 1980, when he retired and moved to Phoenix, Arizona; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Munos is survived by 8 children; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mary Ramirez and Sara Fields; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Joseph S. Munos; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Munos as an expression of our sympathy.
