SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene D. Gunnell of Rock Island, who passed away on June 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was born on November 15, 1925 in Rock Island; his parents were David and Margaret Hancq Gunnell; he married Elsie DeWulf on June 18, 1949 in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was a 1943 graduate of Rock Island High School; he subsequently served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was employed at the John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 39 years until his retirement on May 1, 1982 as a Specification Analyst; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie; and a brother, Frank Gunnell; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell is survived by 2 children, Julie Werthmann and David (Kris) Gunnell; 4 grandchildren, Angela Hughes, Elizabeth Gunnell, Jennifer Santoro, and David Gunnell, Jr.; and 5 great-grandchildren, Julia, Josh, Isabella, Vincenzo, and Aria; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Eugene D. Gunnell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Gunnell as an expression of our sympathy.
