SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raymond N. Morin of New Lenox, who passed
4away on June 8, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raymond Morin grew up in Chicago; his parents were
6Adelord Morin and Alberta Mason Morin; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Raymond Morin served his country as a member of
8the United States Army during World War II, serving as Wire
9Chief in the Signal Corps Unit in Burma and China; and
 
10    WHEREAS, While in technical high school, Raymond Morin
11found he had an aptitude in and love for telephone repair and
12would even borrow books from his teachers so he could learn
13more at home; during the Depression, the only job he could find
14was in the steel mill, but every weekend, he would walk up the
15steps of Illinois Bell to see if a job had opened; many months
16later, he got his wish and started his 40-year career with the
17company, serving until his retirement in the 1980s; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Raymond Morin was a lifelong member of the
19Telephone Pioneers of America; he was also a daily volunteer at
20Provena Villa Franciscan in Joliet during and after his wife's
21illness; he served as resident bartender after her passing; and

1    WHEREAS, Raymond Morin was preceded in death by his wife,
2Lea Payette Morin; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Raymond Morin is survived by 3 children, Donna
4(Fred) Wlodarski, Gregory Morin, and Deborah (Kirk) Ritchie; 6
5grandchildren, Brian Morin, Todd Morin, Mary (David) Burke,
6Monique Hides, Justin (Stephanie) Hides, and Chuck Wlodarski;
7and many great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond N. Morin; and
11be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Raymond Morin as an expression of
14our sympathy.
