SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Leslie Amacher of Savoy, who passed away on May 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was born in Strawn on May 27, 1926 to Vern and Selmer Whitlow Amacher; he was educated in Argenta schools before earning his bachelor's degree in architectural engineering at the University of Illinois; he served in the United States Navy during World War II; he married Joan Carol Marsh on December 22, 1950 and they settled in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was a registered professional engineer and a registered plumber; he was President of the R.H. Bishop company until he retired in 1989; during his career as President, he was named "Boss of the Year" by the Junior Chamber of Commerce after being nominated for the honor by his employees; following a short-lived retirement, he developed S & A Building Specialties, Inc. in Champaign into a thriving business and continued to go to the office every day until he again retired in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was a member of the Construction Specifications Institute, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the University of Illinois Alumni Association, and the University Place Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Charles Amacher served his church as an honorary deacon as well as on numerous committees; he also served the Boy Scouts organization as district commissioner; and

WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Phyllis; and

WHEREAS, Charles Amacher is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Vern David Amacher (Kimberley), Bill Marsh Amacher (Hazel), and Carol Jo Beck (William A. II); his 8 grandchildren, Leslie Stebel, Maggie Halvorson, Michael Amacher, Charlee Amacher, Nicole Arnold, Rachel Hoskins, April Beck, and Lake Beck; and his 11 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Leslie Amacher, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Amacher as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
