SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gregory M. Campbell of Carlinville, who passed away on April 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Campbell was born in Jacksonville on September 17, 1950 to Richard and Etta Campbell; he grew up in the Northwestern School District, where he was active in all sports that were offered there; he spent 2 years in Carlinville schools, where he also participated in all sports and held the pole vault records for many years in Macoupin County; he married Brenda Allen on November 29, 1970 in Waverly; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Campbell learned about semi-trucks from his Grandpa Merle Campbell who taught him how to drive while he was still in high school; he drove a truck most of his married life except when he helped raise 300 head of sows on the farm in Scottville; he was also the Multi-Township Tax Assessor for 8 years for Scottville, Western Mound, Barr, and Chesterfield townships; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Campbell enjoyed playing competitive softball for the Palmyra Playboys; he attended Midwest Christian Center in Jacksonville; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Campbell was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Van Campbell; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Campbell is survived by his wife, Brenda; his 3 sons, Gregory Scott Campbell (Hallie), Brock Matthew Campbell (Carrie), and Colt Allen Campbell (Katie McClennahan); his grandchildren, Clayton, Garrett, Jake, Kylee, and Dirk; his 2 sisters, Lisa Cox (Danny) and Catherine Fairfield; his mother's husband, Charlie Frank; his 2 brothers, Doug Campbell and Chris Campbell (Kathy); and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gregory M. Campbell, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gregory Campbell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
