SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John P. Holsten of Crystal Lake, who passed away on April 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, John Holsten was born on November 24, 1925 in Chicago; his parents were Peter and Kathrina (nee Beckmann) Holsten; he married Annie Tietjen on October 23, 1948 in Crystal Lake; and

WHEREAS, John Holsten served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II in the Philippines and Japan; and

WHEREAS, John Holsten was a long-time businessman in Crystal Lake, operating the Holsten's Gulf and Holsten's Sunoco service stations; he later founded Holsten's Automotive; and

WHEREAS, John Holsten was a member of the Crystal Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 9 years; he was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; and

WHEREAS, John Holsten is survived by his wife, Annie; a daughter, Shirley (Don) Freese; a son, Jim (JoAnn) Holsten; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca (Larry) Nakamura, Rachel (Mike) Nicholson, Jessica (Derek) Loverich, and Leah and Tori Holsten; and 4 great-grandchildren, Calista and Dryden Nicholson and Matthew and Natalie Loverich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of John P. Holsten; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Holsten as an expression of our sympathy.
