SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy D. Mosley, who passed away on April 14, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley was born on August 11, 1936 in Camden, Mississippi; her parents were Joe and Mary Ellen Douglas; and

WHEREAS, After completing high school, Dorothy Mosley moved to Chicago, where she met and married the love of her life, Henry L. Mosley on July 18, 1959; and

WHEREAS, After retiring from Abbott Laboratories after many years of service, Dorothy Mosley began her own daycare business, where her great of children endeared her to countless boys and girls; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley was raised in the church and was baptized at an early age; she hailed from a family of singers and enjoyed singing at church services; she flourished under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Michael L. Pfleger, whom she loved as a son; in 1970, she and her husband joined the Faith Community of St. Sabina, where she was relentless in her faith and commitment to the church; she served in various ministries, including the Women's Club, the KPC Ladies Auxiliary, Eucharistic Ministers, the Sisterhood, Intercessory Prayer, Lectors and Commentators, and Ministry of Care; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and her son, Andre; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley is survived by her son, Demetrious (Tina) Mosley; her daughter, Nicole Love; her daughter-in-law, Tracey Otis-Mosley; her brother-in-law, Arthur Griffin; 3 grandsons, Carl, Demetrious, Jr., and Darius; 3 granddaughters, Jaya, Jessica, and Tara; and her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy D. Mosley; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Mosley as an expression of our sympathy.
