SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kevin Irving, who passed away on December
419, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kevin Irving was born on July 25, 1966 to Joseph
6and Jean Irving; he attended John H. Vanderpoel Elementary
7School and graduated from Mendel Catholic High School in 1984;
8at an early age, he would sing and dance with his brothers and
9provide the family with talent shows; he continued the talent
10show appearances in grammar school and high school; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kevin Irving could compose poetry and turn it into
12lyrics with a melodic beat as easy as reciting the alphabet;
13his distinctive melodies and powerful voice would help him
14become known as one of the pioneers of "House Music"; he later
15became a member of Club Nouveau; he also mixed and provided
16vocal arrangements on several songs; he became a writer,
17producer, and a self-taught sound engineer; he had a keen eye
18and ear for talent and became a talent scout for major
19recording labels; he also worked as a writer for companies such
20as Disney; his passion for music and his God-given talents led
21him to work with many popular recording stars; he was a
22visionary who revolutionized the ringtone craze with his own
23personal style of ringtones; and

1    WHEREAS, Kevin Irving was affectionately known as "Jack N
2House", "Kirv", and "Kev"; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kevin Irving was preceded in death by his parents
4and his brother, Joseph Irving, Jr.; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kevin Irving is survived by his wife, Danielle
6Irving; his son, Kevin Irving, Jr.; his step-daughter, Jade
7Phelnetto; his step-son, Quentin Reaves; his 2 sisters,
8Patricia Sanford-Thomas and Pamela Irving-Fuller; his 2
9brothers, Reverend Rodney Irving (Terri) and William Irving
10(Janice); his 2 sisters-in-law, Aja Bogan and Marlena Bogan;
11his mother-in-law, Deborah Bogan; his nephews, Leonard
12Sanford, Jr., Frederick Sanford, and Christopher Irving; his 5
13nieces, Veronica Sanford-Richardson (Darrell), Jennifer
14Irving, Stephanie Irving, Patricia Irving, and Brianna Irving;
15his 11 great-nieces and nephews; his uncle, Robert Irving (Mae)
16and his aunt, Mary McMillan (Gilmore); and a host of other
17relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Kevin Irving, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
21friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Kevin Irving as an expression of our
3deepest sympathy.
