SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy Marie Pitzen of Johnsburg, who
4passed away on February 18, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Pitzen was born in Spring Grove on March
623, 1922 to John and Emma Lay; in 1942, she married Joseph
7Himpelmann in San Francisco, California; after World War II,
8they settled in Johnsburg; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dorothy Pitzen worked many years for the Barr-Don
10Corporation in Mount Prospect until she retired; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dorothy Pitzen was involved in many organizations
12and ministries at St. John the Baptist Church, including the
13Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, the Welcoming Committee, and
14Prayer Groups; she was also a member of the Catholic Order of
15Foresters, serving as an insurance agent; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Following the passing of her first husband,
17Dorothy Pitzen married Paul Pitzen at St. John's in 1986; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dorothy Pitzen was preceded in death by her first
19and second husbands; her parents; her brother, Leander (Jean
20Whiting) Lay; her sister, Agnes (Jerry) Klaus; her

1brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Weingart; her sister-in-law,
2Betty Kilday Lay; Joe's parents, Joseph and Julia Himpelmann;
3and her sisters-in-law, Kay (Paul) Reindel and Barbara (Melvin)
4Johnson; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Pitzen is survived by her sister, Marie
6Weingart; her brother, Edmund Lay; her children, Richard
7(Diane), Joel (Carolyn), Mary (Jack) Weightman, Dave (Sue),
8Betty, Barb (Tom) Kasting, Steve (Sue), and Ron (Karla); Paul's
9children from his first marriage to Virginia, Joyce (Rex) Coon,
10Paul, Jr. (Kim), and Loren (Cindy); other survivors include her
1119 grandchildren, Danielle (Dave) Klein, Denise (Bryan)
12Straube, Debbi and fiance, Steve Dolloff, Melissa (Jake)
13Pereria, Matt (Lorene) Himpelmann, Jodi (Darren) Tate, Michael
14(Elena) Weightman, Steve (Jen) Weightman, Julie (Mike) Dahlin,
15Joe (Stacey) Himpelmann, Ann Marie (Alex) Chapman, Andrea (Joe)
16Hawkinson, Gretchen and Ben Kasting, Lauren Himpelmann and
17fiance, Matt Starr, Emma and Maddie Himpelmann, Shari (Mark)
18Norman, and Kevin Himpelmann; her 25 great-grandchildren; her
19great-great-grandchild on the Himpelmann side of the family;
20the Pitzen grandchildren, Beth (Josh) Pranger, Brian
21(Jennifer) Coon, and Christine and Samantha Pitzen; her 8
22great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore,
23be it
 
24    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Dorothy Marie Pitzen, and extend our sincere condolences to her
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
4further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Dorothy Pitzen as an expression of
7our deepest sympathy.
